The DGT has updated the requirements that personal mobility vehicles will need to have in order to circulate from next year, although users will have time to adapt until 2027.

These characteristics are as follows:
- They cannot exceed 25 km/h and will also incorporate anti-tampering systems for both power and speed.
- They must have Brakes independently on each of the Wheels.
- The Wheels must have a minimum diameter of 203.2 mm and a rough surface.
- Reflective elements will be mandatory as well as the brake and position lights.
- They must have an acoustic element to warn pedestrians and other vehicles.
- Information regarding: maximum speed, serial number, certificate number, year of construction, and make and model; must be permanently and legibly marked on the scooter.
- Other elements that must be incorporated mandatorily are a Kickstand, to ensure stability when parked, a double locking system, and an ID holder.
These requirements came into effect from January 22, 2024, but those who already had Scooters electric ones that do not meet these requirements will be able to use them until 2027.
