3.Cookie Policy/Browsing with cookies

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies and other similar technologies such as local shared objects, flash cookies, or pixels, are files or small text files that some platforms, like web pages, can install on the user's device (computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when accessing certain web pages, to store and retrieve information about the navigation carried out by the user from that device. They can also consist of a code that allows the User to be unequivocally identified during their navigation. Therefore, cookies can store information about a User's device or about their web browsing sessions, such as the page they visit, the internet connection time, and other data depending on the type of cookie.

Therefore, the use of cookies in web page browsing allows:

  • obtaining information related to user navigation
  • improving the User's browsing experience
  • collecting usage statistics of the website by the User
  • other information such as the browser used by the User
  • number of pages visited
  • number of visits
  • tracking the movements made by the User through a website
  • time spent on the website or on a specific page
  • filling or emptying the shopping cart (and other information in online sales)
  • determining the User's location through the geolocation of the connected device (information about the region and, potentially, local data in some countries)
  • measuring the effectiveness of their email campaigns
  • improving the service features for specific user segments and subscribers to receive commercial electronic communications and newsletters
  • knowing if the recipients of commercial electronic communications and newsletters have proceeded to open such communications
  • and the use of the links contained in them for each of the recipients, such as clicking on the links contained in the emails,
  • and being able to create follow-up reports on the campaigns with the information gathered.

Their functions can be very varied: storing your browsing preferences, collecting statistical information, allowing certain technical functionalities, etc.

Sometimes, cookies are used to store basic information about the user's or their device's browsing habits, to the point, in some cases, of being able to recognize them.

Cookies are useful for several reasons. From a technical point of view, they allow web pages to function more smoothly and adapted to your preferences, such as storing your language or your country's currency.

Additionally, they help website managers to improve their services, thanks to the statistical information they collect through them.

Finally, they serve to make advertising more efficient that can be shown, thanks to which it could -if applicable- offer services for free.

For more information about cookies, visit Your Online Choices Spain or http://www.allaboutcookies.org/es/.

COOKIES AFFECTED BY THE REGULATIONS AND EXEMPTED COOKIES

With the modification of the "Information Society Services Law" (LSSICE) established by Royal Decree 13/2012, it is mandatory to obtain the express consent of the user of all websites that use non-essential cookies, before they browse them.

The cookies that require informed consent from the user are analytics, advertising, and affiliation cookies, except for technical cookies and those necessary for the operation of the website or the provision of services expressly requested by the user.

Cookies excluded from the duty of information and consent are those strictly necessary for the provision of a service expressly requested by the user or those necessary solely to allow communication between the user's equipment and the network, such as: session cookies, user input cookies, user security cookies, media player session cookies, session cookies for load balancing, certain technical cookies, personalization cookies, and certain add-on cookies.

At the end of this section you can MANAGE COOKIES (*).

WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES EXIST?

There are different types of cookies.

At a first level, we can differentiate between:

Third-party cookies: They belong to and are managed by third parties, unrelated to the owner.

Furthermore, cookies are classifiable according to the purpose for which they were created:

Technical and functional cookies: are the strictly necessary for the use of the site and for the provision of the service. Strictly necessary cookies. Strictly necessary cookies must always be enabled so that we can save your cookie setting preferences.

If you disable these cookies, we will not be able to save your preferences.

This means that every time you visit this website you will have to enable or disable cookies:

Analytical cookies: We use analytical cookies to help us understand how users use our website. For example, they help us count the number of different people who visit our website or use a specific feature, instead of the total number of times the website or feature is used. Without this cookie, if you visit the website once a week for three weeks, we would count you as three independent users. Without these cookies, it would be very difficult for us to analyze the performance of our website and improve it.

- Performance cookies: This type of Cookie remembers your preferences for the tools found in the services, so you don't have to reconfigure the service each time you visit. For example, this typology includes:

  • Volume settings of video or sound players.
  • Video transmission speeds that are compatible with your browser.

Geo-location Cookies: These Cookies are used to determine in which country you are located when a service is requested. This Cookie is completely anonymous and is only used to help direct content to your location.

Registration Cookies: Registration Cookies are generated once the user has registered or subsequently opened their session, and are used to identify them in the services for the following purposes:

  • Keep the user identified so that if they close a service, the browser or the computer and at another time or another day re-enter that service, they will remain identified, thus facilitating their navigation without having to identify themselves again. This functionality can be suppressed if the user presses the "log out" functionality, so that this Cookie is deleted and the next time they enter the service the user will have to log in to be identified.
  •  Check if the user is authorized to access certain services, for example, to participate in a contest.

- Personalization Cookies: allow the user to configure the design, language, preferences, etc. of their browser.

- Advertising and Behavioral Cookies: are used to carry out effective management of the advertising spaces that have been included on a website or application from which the service is provided. They are useful for adapting the advertising offered to the interests of users, as they collect information about their preferences. They are used in marketing techniques such as retargeting.

- Affiliate Cookies: track visits coming from websites with which a site has established an affiliation contract.
